Budget brings back Reduced Pollution Certificate. The Government announced in the Budget the reintroduction of the Reduced Pollution Certificate scheme - which will give a £500 annual VED rebate for buyers of Euro-6 trucks for a period of up to 5 years. Euro-6 vehicles are unlikely to be available until late 2013 at the earliest. Manufacturers estimate Euro-6 trucks will cost at least £2,500 more than Euro-5. Tony Pain, DAF Trucks director of marketing, adds: "This appears to have killed off any hope of getting EEV [termed Euro-5-and-a-half] trucks accepted as a halfway house. Im not sure the incentive is big enough to make people buy forward."
